This versatile player brings you the top-notch picture and sound of Blu-ray, lets you enjoy your DVD and CD collections, and displays photos and videos saved on an SD card or thumb drive. If you have a broadband Internet connection, you can take advantage of Panasonic's VIERA Cast technology to watch your favorite You Tube videos or view photos from friends and family on Google's Picasa Web Album.

DVD Video up Conversion
DVD Video up conversion is the process of a lower image resolution to an apparent high one. To fill this achievement, the Pioneer DMP-BD80 fills in additional image data by accessing existing pixels Up-conversion generally makes up for a better picture.

Built-in Decoder
A decoder is a device which does the reverse of an encoder, undoing the encoding so that the original information can be retrieved. The same method used to encode is usually just reversed in order to decode. Enable inputs must be on for the decoder to function, otherwise its outputs assume a single "disabled" output code word. Decoding is necessary in applications such as data multiplexing, 7 segment display and memory address decoding.
